The AFP-WNC Mentoring Program is available to all AFP Members.
Recognizing that as members we have experience in some areas of development and might want to seek support in others, this pilot program is designed to enable our members to share their expertise with one another in a defined, outcome-based process.
We are currently in the first six months of the program and are offering it on a trial basis. All participants will be asked to report on outcomes and offer suggestions for improvement at the end of the six-month period.
Commitment requirements:
- Mentors and mentees agree to adhere to AFP Code of Ethics
- Neither party shall be expected to pick up the tab for the other (i.e., pay for food, etc.)
- Upon being matched, the mentor and mentee will participate in an initial meeting to determine if they will be helpful to one another. At this meeting, 1-3 specific goals to be accomplished within 4-5 months will be set.
- The mentee agrees to submit the goals and meeting arrangements to the AFP Mentoring Committee within 1 week of the initial meeting.
- Both mentor and mentee must agree to participate in an exit survey.
- Under most circumstances, both parties agree to limit meetings to up to 2 hours/month for up to 5 months. After 5 months, the contract may be renewed for an additional 3 months if both parties deem this ideal.
To participate, please complete the form below. An asterisk (*) indicates that a field is mandatory. Please note that if you are interested in acting as both a mentor in an area of expertise and a mentee in an area where you require experience, you will need to submit the form twice. Thank you for your interest and participation!
