The John Gile Memorial Scholarship commemorates John Gile, a beloved member of our chapter who mentored many in fundraising and championed the development of our profession.

The 2019 John Gile Scholarship Recipient was Chelsea Rudisill. Chelsea is a fundraising professional who is passionate about arts and education. She is the Grants Manager for the Asheville Art Museum. Chelsea has a BA in Public Policy from Duke University and an MA in Arts Administration from Winthrop University. Chelsea shares:

“Philanthropy Institute 2019 was a wonderful experience. The sessions I attended offered a helpful mix of actionable strategies that I can implement in my work today, as well as larger concepts and ideas about the future of fundraising and how we interact with the communities we serve.

Above all, I left thinking about the keynote presentation by Neela Muñoz and Vivian Smith and how I can align my work with a positive intention. I can get bogged down in chasing goal[s] or trying to get a proposal or letter out in the mail … that race to get things done can make me feel burned out.

When I lead with the intention to share my organization’s story or to connect with a potential donor that’s when I feel like I can most effectively share my passion and be a great ambassador for the organization I’m serving.”
