DESCRIPTION:April Professional Development\nOrganizational Commitment to Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion\nThe recording of this program is available HERE. \nAdditional DEI resources from the presenters are available for download HERE. \nUniversity of North Carolina Asheville Vice Chancellor for Human Resources\, Institutional Equity\, and General Counsel Heather Parlier will lead the group in an open discussion about our individual organizations’ commitment to Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion. We will discuss how individually we gauge that commitment and how we actively work towards it. \n\nAttendees should submit questions before May 10\, 2021 and bring along their individual organization’s statements of commitment to diversity if able.\n\n \n \nPresented by Heather Parlier\nHeather Parlier joined UNC Asheville as Vice Chancellor for Human Resources\, Institutional Equity\, and General Counsel in October 2019. Prior to joining UNC Asheville in this role\, she served as the Vice Provost for Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Columbia University in the City of New York. As Vice Provost\, Parlier was responsible for the management of the University’s policies on discrimination\, harassment\, and sexual assault and misconduct\, and served as Columbia’s compliance officer for nondiscrimination and affirmative action laws and disability access. Parlier was also responsible for creating and implementing training and awareness for campus diversity and inclusion as well as working with all Schools and Departments within the University to create more inclusive and welcoming academic and work environments. Parlier received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her JD from the City University of New York School of Law.\nRegister
