National Philanthropy Day Awards | Call for Nominations | Due July 26

AFP WNC is now accepting nominations for the 2019 National Philanthropy Day Awards, which we will celebrate this November. The deadline for nominations is Friday, July 26. Please give some thought today to your philanthropic leaders and fill out an award nomination.

You can recognize outstanding philanthropic work in seven different categories: Youth, Foundation, Volunteer Fundraiser, Philanthropist, Fundraising Executive, Business, and the T. Kennon Roberson Award for Management Excellence in Nonprofit Health and Human Services. Please visit www.afpwnc.org/programs/npd to access nomination forms.

It only takes about an hour to complete an application form. The process is a great opportunity to spend time with those who excel in sharing their time, resources, and talent to improve Western North Carolina. Tell someone how much they mean to you, and they will tell you a little more about themselves, while you work collaboratively to write the nomination.

Please note, in the spirit of philanthropy, AFP-WNC strongly discourages self-nomination.

Nominations must be received by Friday, July 26, at 5:00 p.m. Be sure that, if selected, your nominee can attend the NPD Luncheon on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Crown Plaza Hotel. The John Gile Memorial Scholarship commemorates John Gile, a beloved member of our chapter who mentored many in fundraising and championed the development of our profession. The scholarship is awarded annually to two fundraising professionals requiring financial assistance to attend Philanthropy Institute.

If you wish to apply for the 2019 John Gile Memorial Scholarship to attend the 2019 Philanthropy Institute Thursday, July 18, the AFP-WNC Board of Directors encourages you to apply.

Scholars must register and pay for a full day of Philanthropy Institute in advance. Recipients will receive an award check at the conclusion of the event. Recipients must attend the entire event to receive the scholarship reimbursement.

Recognized for achievements using online marketing tools to drive success

ASHEVILLE, NC — March 13, 2019 – Virtual Business Services along with Association Fundraising Professional Western North Carolina Chapter, has been named a 2018 Solution Provider All Star Award winner by Constant Contact, an Endurance International Group company and a leader in small business marketing solutions. The annual award recognizes the most successful 10 percent of Constant Contact’s customer and Solution Provider base, based on their significant achievements using email marketing to engage their customer base and drive results for their organization during the prior year.

The AFP Western North Carolina Chapter advances philanthropy and empowers people and organizations to practice effective and ethical fundraising.
