(Arlington, Va.) – The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Western North Carolina Chapter has been named a 2019 Ten Star Chapter.

Every year, AFP, the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. Just one-third of all AFP chapters are named Ten Star Chapters, so the Western North Carolina Chapter is one of a select group of chapters to earn this honor.

Ten Star Chapters are recognized at the AFP International Conference on Fundraising (ICON). Chapters also earn the privilege of displaying the Ten Star logo on their website, newsletters and stationary.

Criteria for the award are determined by AFP International Headquarters. A list of several goals is published annually, and chapters must accomplish 10 of these goals during the year and submit a nomination form for verification to be honored.

The Charlotte, Triad and Triangle Chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals invite you to apply to present a breakout session at the 15^th Annual NC Philanthropy Conference on Monday, August 5, 2019, at the Charlotte Convention Center, Charlotte, NC.

Sessions are 60 minutes long and range from 35-70 attendees. Microphones and projectors are provided; most presenters provide their own laptop.

Selection Criteria for Speakers
Successful applicants will have current knowledge that is delivered in an engaging, high-energy format. The Conference Programming Committee will review the submissions for breakout session presentations based on the following criteria:

• clarity of the description of the topic, objectives and presentation methods
• importance, depth, focus, and level of audience interest
• applicability of the presentation to a variety of settings
• presenter’s professional background and speaking experience
• absence of commercial content
• originality of topic/presentation (has not been presented at recent local conferences or chapter meetings)

The Review Process
Presentation proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Programming Committee. The primary presenter will be notified by email April 12, 2019. Information regarding format and deadlines will be provided as part of the acceptance process.
