Look Before You Leap Day!

In 45 B.C, Julius Caesar introduced the leap year, adding an extra day to the calendar every fourth year because our solar year was just a smidgen longer than 365 days (365.24219 days, to be exact). Thus, February 29 was born! While this may seem like a minor adjustment, it prevents a gradual misalignment with the natural order of months and seasons.

If we didn’t hit reset periodically, in 100 years, our seasons would be off a whole month. Fast forward 300 years, and February would feel suspiciously like May!

So, what does this ancient calendar adjustment have to do with you today (besides wishing this February weather was more May-like)?

Ask yourself: Is there a mission-drift for your organization or for you personally/professionally that’s affecting your trajectory toward success?

1.  Be Attuned to Change: Recognize when a shift is occurring. Acknowledge the signs and resolve to get back on track.

2.  Choose the Right Realignment Strategy: Consider how best to realign yourself. Is it through small, gradual tweaks over time, or is a more significant, immediate adjustment necessary? Assess the situation and choose a strategy that fits your needs.

3.  Consistently Reevaluate: Don’t wait another four years! Make a habit of assessing your mission, priorities, and strategies. Regularly ask yourself what adjustments will keep your goals aligned and on track.

As you navigate the seasons of your life, make sure your mission stays true.
Cheers to keeping on course and embracing the journey!
